See you soon at Powerscourt Garden Pavilion!
Sowing, Growing & Planting
Regular deadheading will encourage a second flush of flowers.
Feed hanging baskets & containers with, Gro Sure tomato food or a multi-purpose liquid fertilizer phostagen to encourage both growth and a longer flowering period.
Resolva 24hr will keep perennial weeds under control in flowers beds, spray when there is no wind, and alternatively use Roundup Fast Acting Gel weedkiller that kills weeds by releasing a gel when in contact.
Ventilate greenhouse crops in hot weather, keep watch for aphids and mildews and keep under control with bug clear.
General Maintenance
Support tall perennials and tall summer flowering bulbs with bamboo canes, plant rings that they can grow through and curved metal support frames.
Early flowering shrubs that have finished flowering can be pruned.
Check roses regularly for aphids and black spot treat rose Clear or Multi rose when necessary.
Newly planted trees & shrubs will need to be watered in dry spells.
Water and feed your indoor plants, keep watch for signs for pest and disease.
Lawn Maintenance
Raise the height of the mower mid-July as lawn growth slows down. This will help high traffic lawns not to look as tired. Keep edges along pathways trimmed with a lawn shears & edger.
Remember to water new lawns planted in spring during dry spells.
A summer feed can still be applied, if not already done so, where weeds are a problem use a combination of feed & weed.
Grass clippings can be added to the compost bins in layers with other plant clippings and compost excelerant.
We hope this helps you get started on your July gardening! Until next time, Powerscourt Garden Pavilion
