6 Festive indoor plants for the Christmas season

Ardisia crenata
A beautiful evergreen plant with clusters of red berries over the Christmas period. It also has pink and white flowers in summer. It is low maintenance, keep moist and only requires indirect light.
Bonsai
The ideal gift – something different for the Christmas season and very popular too! Different sizes and varieties are available and also a starter kit. Bonsai trees require indirect light and keep them moderately moist.
Indoor Cyclamen
Why not try indoor Cyclamens for a splash of colour? They are bigger than the outdoor variety and are available in different colours. Keep them moist and remember to dead head them for a longer flowering period.
Orchids
Orchids with their timeless beauty will always be a popular gift and houseplant. They have a very long flowering period and are available in many different colours. Water once a week, never let it stand in the water. Requires natural light.
Poinsettia
Always there to brighten up any corner in your house around Christmas time! Requires indirect light keep away from draughts and keep reasonably warm. Water thoroughly and wait until the compost is slightly dry before you water again.
Schlumbergera
Last but not least the Christmas cactus, the ideal plant for the festive season. Keep the soil moist but not soggy. After flowering, water sparingly until new growth begins in spring. Bright indirect light. Once it starts budding, keep the plant in the same location.
