RTÉ star Gives Bee-Keeping Talk in Powerscourt Garden Pavilion
Philip Mc Cabe, one of Ireland’s best known bee-keepers is coming to Powerscourt! On RTE’s 'Mooney Goes Wild' Philip keeps the nation up to date, not only with his beloved bees, but on all of the social insects. On June 25th 2005, Philip attempted a world bee beard record attempt, when he sought to attract 500,000 bees onto himself! According to Philip, we need to rethink our attitude to the benefits honey can bring us: “In today’s world honey is mainly used as a food or in food but its’ healing properties are somewhat forgotten. Modern medicine and our desire for fast food has meant that the benefits that nature provides us with are no longer consider fashionable. Honey has been a source of food and healing for millennia so perhaps we should rethink our attitude to it. The talk will outline the many benefits honey provides.” Join Philip for a chat about honey and bee-keeping in Ireland today and see how you can get involved. The talk takes place on 12th June at 11.30am at Powerscourt Garden Pavilion in County Wicklow. It is free of charge and no booking is required. See powerscourt.ie/events for more information.
