Introducing Rhubarb and Custard from Tully Nurseries to Powerscourt Garden Pavilion
Breaking News! Powerscourt Garden Pavilion is delighted to introduce a new plant variety from Tully Nurseries - Rhubarb and Custard!! The plant will be arriving to the Pavilion this weekend to celebrate International Fascination of Plants Day on 18th of May.
‘Rhubarb & Custard’ features unique, distinctive spiky foliage and nice rounded habit. It has the added benefit of cream, pink and green foliage which holds its colour throughout the Summer months. It is set to be a popular plant for its year round colour and lilac flowers in June and July. It is an evergreen plant which is easy to grow and is ideal in all gardens. It can be planted in the garden or in patio containers. This new Hebe has been developed and cultivated in Tully Nurseries in north county Dublin. It has taken 5 years to produce and is now grown worldwide. Other varieties in this range include ‘Raspberry Ripple’ and ‘Strawberries and Cream’.
The Tully Family recently met with the Taoiseach Enda Kenny to showcase their new plant. Enda said: "I was delighted to be joined by Martin, Niamh and Padraig Tully in Government Buildings today where they presented me with their homegrown winner of the best plant for 2013, Hebe ‘Rhubarb and Custard’. Developed over a five year period at Tully Nurseries, Ballyboughal, Co Dublin, this distinctive evergreen plant would be ideal for all gardens and I wish them all the best with it both here and in the UK. ” Since winning ‘Best new plant for 2013′ at the Bord Bia and HTA awards last year at the Irish & UK National Shows, there has been a huge demand for this plant from home and abroad.
Drop into the Pavilion this weekend to see Rhubarb and Cream and bring colour to your garden all summer long!
