We are certainly looking forward to seeing some lovely colours in the garden this Autumn.
Plant of the Month September - Hypericum
It's Autumn time and the leaves are turning colour, berries are forming on plants all around. There are so many plants to choose from for great Autumn colour but a favourite is the Hypericum Miracle series. The series consists of six different varieties with berry colour ranging from red, pink, white and coffee, a beautiful contrast to it's dark green foliage.
The varieties include:
Miracle Attraction - Red Berry
Miracle Blossom - Pink Berry
Miracle Marvel - Brown
Miracle Summer - Orange Red
Miracle Wonder - Red Brown
Miracle Spirit - White Berry
Unlike more traditional forms of Hypericum it is not sensitive to rust and has a more compact nature, growing to approximately 1m x 1m.
It produces masses of yellow flowers in the summer, around, July, and enjoys sun or semi shade.
It suits both planting in beds and borders as well as containers and pots. The berries also come in very useful for flower arranging for the autumn/Christmas season.
Prune in March to encourage more bushy growth.
